Porter Clough is at the head of a wooded valley starting at the edge of moorland and originally with a mine at the top. The Porter Brook was diverted to drive mill wheels for producing steel wire and cutlery at forges along its journey down to the city. Later turned into recreational spaces for all by the city's great and good, the landscape is witness to the lives of many generations. Now a popular footpath for people to enjoy walking and running, and the ubiquitous take-away coffee...
